Last week United Liberation Front of Asom insurgents killed over 40 Hindi-speaking migrant workers in Tinsukhia district of the state and left many injured.
BJP state chief Radha Mohan Singh,Syed Shahnawaz Hussain, Uday Singh and Nikhil Chaudhary also accompanied by Ravi Shankar Prasad. All of them are members of parliament from the state.
In a memorandum submitted to Patil, they pointed out that the massacre of the Bihari migrant labourers in Dibrugarh, Tinsukhia and Sibsagar districts of Assam has been condemned by all parties. " So far 60 persons have been killed. This kind of incidents have taken place on small scale before as well. We allege that the serious action that was needed to be taken had not been taken before," the memorandum said.
BJP has demanded a compensation of Rs 10 lakh each to the family of the victim and Rs 2 lakh each to those injured and also a job for one of person in the family of the victims. "
This operation had been carried out by ULFA at the instance of ISI which has set up a headquarter in Bangladesh. In 2003 and 2005 army has done operations against militants but we feel that the time has come to take stringent measures against them now," Radha Mohan Singh, who briefed the media after the meeting, said.
