The Central Bureau of Investigation on Wednesday questioned Noida Senior Superintendent of Police R K S Rathore in connection with the serial killings of women and children in Nithari village.

Though Rathore termed his meeting as a "courtsey call," sources in the probe agency said that he had been asked to come here to explain about alleged allegations from general public about police negligence.

Rathore, who has been holding the fort in Noida, was also asked about the failure of the police to exhume other skeletal remains from the drain near the house of Moninder Singh Pandher, the main accused in the killings, they said.

During his meeting with the CBI officials, Rathore was also asked to explain about the inordinate delay in registering the complaints of missing children besides not following the proper investigating procedures after the case came to light.

However, after his 90-minute questioning, Rathore, who had come in his uniform, surprised the reporters by saying that the meeting was "courtsey call" and he did not "talk about Nithari issue."
