Aziz Ahmed Shaikh, a 1993 Mumbai serial bomb blasts convict, has moved the Supreme Court challenging his conviction under the TADA and alleged favour shown by the designated judge to filmstar Sanjay Dutt [Images].

In a criminal appeal filed against his conviction for five years, Aziz -- through his counsel Mushtaq Ahmed -- while pleading his innocence, alleged that judge P D Kode discriminated by not convicting Sanjay Dutt under the TADA despite recovery of arms and ammunition from the actor's residence.

It was submitted that Dutt was merely convicted under the Arms Act, whereas other accused charged with similar offences were sentenced under the TADA, and hence convictions of the other accused were discriminatory in nature.

Aziz claimed that he was innocent and falsely implicated by the Mumbai police for the serial blasts that killed scores
of people in 1993.

The designated TADA court had convicted Aziz to five years RI with a fine of Rs 25,000 holding him guilty of
concealing foreign made arms and ammunitions in Mumbai's Nariyalwadi graveyard to help the conspirators carry out the blasts.
