There was jubiliation at the home of Dr Haneef Mohammed, moments after the announcement of charges against him being dropped.

Haneef's wife, Firdous Ashriya said her intuition that he was innocent had been proved right.

She said that she was relieved and said that it has been a roller coaster ride all through.

Firdous also thanked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and the Indian government for all the support.

Maintaining that she wanted her husband to return with his honour intact, she added that Haneef should not be deported, but should come to India with a valid visa like any other normal person.

She said that she expected Haneef to return to India in the next 3 to 4 days.

Haneef's mother and the other members of his family also said that they were relieved and could not wait to see their son come back home.

They also maintained that Haneef should return with all respect and added that they are hopeful that he will do so.

They thanked the government and the media for all the support that was rendered.

Australia's prosecution chief on Friday dropped terrorism charges against Haneef following a review of the case, more than three weeks after he was arrested in connection with last month's failed car bombings in London and Glasgow.
