A man, who had thrown the security forces into a tizzy by allegedly shooting himself near the Prime Minister's house last week, was sent to 14 days' judicial custody by a city court on Monday.

Kishori Lal, who had, on May 3, allegedly attempted to commit suicide over a troubled marriage, was produced before Metropolitan Magistrate J P Nahar from a city hospital where he was admitted after the incident.

Reserving the order on his bail for Tuesday, the magistrate also gave direction to the authorities to keep him in the jail hospital as the 42-year-old man had alleged bad health.

The police have booked Lal, a resident of Dwarka in South-West Delhi, under Section 309 (attempt to commit suicide) and various provisions of the Arms Act as the accused was found in possession of live cartridges.

Lal, who had reportedly shot at himself outside the Jaipur Polo Grounds as he was troubled over his wife's illicit relationship with his friend, was to be rushed to a city hospital just after the incident.

A suicide note was also recovered from his possession and firearms and cash were found inside the car in which he had reached the spot, the police had claimed.
