Angry Congress workers on Wednesday smashed window panes and broke furniture at the party office in Ahmedabad for the second consecutive day after a former city mayor was denied a ticket to contest the assembly elections.

Supporters of Himmat Singh Patel also tore posters of Congress leaders at the Gujarat House, the city office of the state Pradesh Congress Committee, party sources claimed.

They said Patel had sought a ticket from Rakhiyal seat.

Earlier in the day, Congress workers owing allegiance to two other leaders were involved in a scuffle at the Ahmedabad Collectorate where they had gone to file nominations.

Even on Tuesday, supporters of Congress leaders who were denied party tickets had smashed few window panes and wooden panels at the Gujarat House.

The Congress activists were protesting the nominations of Sailesh Parmar from city's Saherkotda seat and Naresh Rawal from Mehsana assembly constituency.
