Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Monday evaded a query about the possibility of mid-term polls, but said that her party is "always prepared to face the electorate."

After carrying out a reshuffle in the party hierarchy, a relaxed Gandhi attended an Iftaar party hosted by Vice President Hamid Ansari, where she had an informal chat with mediapersons.

Speaking about whether the Congress was prepared for a snap poll, Gandhi said, "the party is always prepared". She even thanked a journalist when he said that she had carried out a "meaningful reshuffle".

In the organisational reshuffle carried out by her earlier in the day, Rahul Gandhi was appointed Congress General Secretary while a host of young faces and three junior ministers were inducted into the All India Congress Committee. The reshuffle has triggered speculations about possible changes in the Union Council of Ministers,

When asked whether such an exercise was on the cards, Gandhi replied diplomatically, "Ask the prime minister." Union Ministers Ram Vilas Paswan, Meira Kumar and E Ahamed, Deputy Speaker of Lok Sabha Charanjit Singh Atwal, Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha K Rahman Khan and Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit were also present at the party.
