All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam activists on Wednesday staged a demonstration in New Delhi, seeking immediate dismissal of the Karunanidhi-led Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam government in Tamil Nadu for "hurting" the sentiments of Hindu community on the Ram Sethu issue.

Addressing the protest, AIADMK party leader in the Rajya Sabha V Maitreyan said, "The DMK government should be dismissed immediately as Karunanidhi's remarks against Lord Ram has hurt the sentiments of millions of Hindus across the globe."

"By making derogatory remarks against Lord Ram, Karunanidhi has violated the Constitution," he said.

Later, speaking to reporters, the AIADMK MP said his party was not opposed to the project, but was against its current alignment.

"We also want the project to be implemented. But we are against the current alignment which will demolish the Ram Sethu. We want the project to be implemented in any other alignment and protect the monument (Ram Sethu). When asked about the proposed bandh by the DMK and its allies in Tamil Nadu on October 1 demanding immediate implementation of the project, Maitreyan said, "The bandh amounts to contempt of court as the issue is still pending in the Supreme Court."

Meanwhile, the Delhi unit of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) also held a protest near the Jantar Mantar and condemned Karunanidhi for making remarks against Lord Ram.
