The Bharatiya Janata Party will on Thursday apprise President Pratibha Patil of the attacks on its headquarters in Tamil Nadu allegedly by Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam workers and seek her intervention on the issue.

The party is concerned over the response of the DMK-ruled state government and the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance government in view of the attacks on BJP offices in Tamil Nadu.

We will apprise the President and ask her to intervene on the issue, party sources said.

The office bearers will hold an emergency meeting at the BJP headquarters in Delhi before meeting the President.

According to the sources, the party will also raise the issue of bandh called by DMK on October 1 on the Ram Sethu issue questioning the validity of such a bandh by the ruling party.

The ongoing tussle between the saffron brigade and the DMK, over DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi's questioning the existence of Lord Ram, took a violent turn on Spetember 23 when DMK activists allegedly attacked 'Kamalayalam' the state BJP headquarters in Chennai and ransacked the house of a senior state BJP leader.

They allegedly pelted stones and damaged windows of the office and vehicles there.

Some of the ministers also joined the protests organised by the ruling party.
