The Congress on Friday dismissed as `sour grapes' the criticism by the Opposition that Rahul Gandhi was a `super, super prime minister'. "I am not surprised. These are sour grapes. This is the height of jealousy and exposes their insufficiency," Congress spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi said in New Delhi on Friday.
"They do no good themselves and always criticise others who do good," declared Singhvi.
On whether the party was giving Rahul the credit for the extension of the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act to the entire country, Singhvi said the Congress general secretary was part of a team and a charismatic leader who had added momentum and given a push to the scheme.
"That is what a leader should do," he added.
Asked whether the NREGA's extension was an indication that the Congress wasgearing up for mid-term polls, Singhvi said, "Let us cease to be doubting Thomases. Let us not nit-pick on the technicalities. The substance of the matter is that it has been done. And on who will give the money, the prime minister, the finance minister and the rural development minister held a meeting and there is no resource problem."
Singhvi said the AICC delegation led by Rahul had told the prime minister that the scheme should be all-inclusive and the quality of work being provided should be improved.
