The members of the Kannada film industry decided to go the Tamil Nadu way and organized a protest against the proposed power project at Hogenakal, in Bangalore on Friday.

However, the Kannada film fraternity supported superstar Rajanikanth's decision to participate in the protests against Karnataka, as the actor had reached his iconic stature though Tamil films. Therefore, it made sense for the actor to act on behalf of Tamil Nadu, they said.

Leading film personalities like Puneeth Rajkumar and Ramya participated in the protest. Though the film fraternity said that they were ready to support the cause, they called upon the people of Karnataka to maintain peace during the protests and not to resort to violence.

The Kannada actors stressed that even though they had participated in the protests, they would not let politics affect the professional relationship that they shared with their colleagues from the Tamil film industry. The Kannada film fraternity is planning to continue its protest till the issue gets resolved.
