Bhartiya Janata Party rebel leader Gopinath Munde, who resigned from all posts of the party including that of general secretary, arrived in New Delhi on Wednesday morning and left for residence of Lal Kishenchand Advani to hold talks with the party leadership.

Munde's defiant attitude not to visit Delhi on Tuesday had given rise to the speculation that he may join hands with the Shiv Sena as he had met Bal Thackeray before leaving for Delhi. He also met another powerful leader Chhagan Bhujbal.

"I am confident that we should be able to sort out the issue by the end of the day," Venkaiah Naidu told newsmen before leaving for Advani's residence.

Naidu admitted that some of the issues raised by Munde were genuine.

"I had been talking to both the parties till 11.30 on Tuesday night. Nitin Gadkari and his colleagues maintain that due process was followed in all the cases mentioned by Munde," he said.

Naidu refused to answer whether Madhu Chavan was appointed president of Mumbai BJP unit chief.

While he was talking to newsmen, a desparate Prakash Javadekar made phone calls to Naidu who assured the Rajya Sabha MP that he need not worry.
