Blaming the incompetence of the Central government for the revocation of the ban on the Students Islamic Movement of India, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday said that it reflects the 'real face' of the United Progressive Alliance.
"The UPA has been incompetent in defending the ban on SIMI. This reflects the real face of the government and its soft attitude towards terrorism," party vice-president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said.
The BJP would oppose this decision with all its might as it pertains to the issue of national security and safety of citizens, he said.
"SIMI is terrorism and terrorism is SIMI. The government is shying away from the fact and endangering the civil society by its soft approach to terror," he added.

Party spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy demanded Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil's resignation.
"The Home Ministry has completely failed to convince the judiciary of SIMI's role in the vicious terror circle faced by the country. The Prime Minister should sack such a Home Minister who does not deserve to be at the place and the responsibility which he holds," Party spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy said.
"In such pressing times of terror attack across the country, the ban has been lifted on an organisation that was banned three times earlier. This is complete failure of the government," he added.
"The government needs to make it known to the people the reason why it is mum and indifferent on the issue of safety of its citizens," Rudy said.
