A woman official from the Research and Analysis Wing allegedly tried to commit suicide on Tuesday by consuming poison right outside the Prime Minister's Office in a dramatic incident that brought the country's external intelligence agency in public gaze yet again.

The employee, identified as Nisha Bhatia, was posted at the training centre of the RAW in Gurgaon and had alleged sexual harrassment by her superiors.

Bhatia reached the PMO today afternoon and asked for a meeting with an official posted there. However, on being denied entry, she allegedly consumed rat poison in front of the office in the high security area on Raisina hills.

She was immediately rushed to the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital where the doctors did a stomach wash. Her condition was stated to be out of danger.

The government has already constituted an inquiry into her complaint of sexual harassment by unnamed superiors in the RAW.

A joint secretary, who was on deputation to RAW, faced the main allegation of sexual harassment.

RAW has earlier been in the news for wrong reasons when Rabinder Singh, a Joint Secretary-level officer in RAW, escaped to the United States in 2004.

Later, several allegations were leveled by a former official Major General (retired) V K Singh about corruption in the agency.
