The Congress on Monday served a notice of no-confidence against the Biju Janata Dal-Bharatiya Janata Party government in Orissa over the killing of Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Laxmanananda Saraswati as the House was stalled amid pandemonium by both ruling BJP and Opposition members.

"We have given a notice of no-confidence. This House has no trust in the government," Leader of Opposition J B Patnaik told media persons in Bhubaneswar after the House was adjourned for the day amid uproar by both ruling BJP and opposition Congress members.

Demanding acceptance of the notice by the Speaker, Patnaik said many issues, including the 'failure' of the government on all fronts would be raised during the debate.

'Worsening' law and order situation, developmental activities and other issues would be discussed in the House.

Unfazed by the opposition notice, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, said his government was ready to face the no-confidence motion in the House.

"We have no problem in facing the motion," he told media persons.

The notice for no-confidence motion came after BJP members expressed displeasure over government's failure in saving life of Saraswati who had received a threat letter.

Angry BJP members had announced plans to stall proceedings of the House till those involved in the killing of Saraswati and four others on Saturday night at an 'ashram' in Kandhamal district, were arrested.
