PM briefs President on J&K, Orissa and Bihar August 30, 2008 17:48 IST
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh [Images] on Saturday briefed President Pratibha Patil [Images] on the situation in Jammu and Kashmir [Images] in the wake of the Amarnath land row. During the 45-minute meeting, Dr Singh apprised her of the steps taken by the Centre to restore normalcy in the state, official sources said. The prime minister also gave her an update on violent incidents in Orissa and the grim flood situation in Bihar, they said. Dr Singh along with Congress president Sonia Gandhi [Images] and Home Minister Shivraj Patil [Images] had visited flood-hit areas in Bihar on Thursday and announced a relief package of Rs 1,000 crore. A Rashtrapati Bhavan [Images] spokesperson said the two leaders discussed issues pertaining to national and international importance.
