India on Tuesday shared the details of the probe into the Mumbai terror strikes, which points to the involvement of Pakistan-based terrorists, with the United States and 10 other countries whose nationals were killed in the three-day carnage last week.

The Ministry of External Affairs organised a special briefing for the Heads of Missions of the US, Israel, France, Australia, Canada, Germany, UK, Singapore, Japan, Italy and Thailand to share 'details' about the incident.

The briefing was conducted by Special Secretary (International Organisations) Vivek Katju.

"They (heads of missions) were informed about details of the terrorist attack and the investigation so far," the MEA said.

Katju apprised them about the probe which is pointing to the involvement of Pakistan-based terrorists.

He is understood to have told them that all the heavily-armed attackers came from Karachi via sea, sources said.

India has already told Pakistan that the terrorists responsible for the carnage had come from that country and Islamabad should take strong action against those behind the 'outrage'.
