Union Home Minister P Chidambaram today said Pakistan "is still disputing whether Mohammed Ajmal Amir Iman, the lone captured terrorist during the November 26 Mumbai terror attacks, is its national".

"So far, Pakistan has not informed us whether the captured terrorist is their citizen or not", he told reporters.

On reports that Pakistan embassy officials were interested in meeting Ajmal, he said "normally, permission is granted to an Ambassador or to Embassy officials only if they say that they are interested in meeting their citizen".

"I do not know what Pakistan said today. Let us see first what they have said", Chidambaram added.

Ajmal hails from Faridkot in Pakistan and his father has told "Dawn" newspaper of that country that the youth was his son.
