The government is planning to increase the security of senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader L K Advani in the wake of intelligence inputs suggesting threat to his life from terrorists.

National Security Adviser M K Narayanan met Advani on Monday and discussed the perception of threat to his life and the government's plan to review his security, party sources said today.

The meeting comes ahead of Advani's Sankalp Yatra, scheduled to be launched from Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh, on Wednesday.

The BJP said the Yatra will be held as planned, though it was not immediately known whether Narayanan asked Advani not to go ahead with the Jabalpur rally.

"The launch of our campaign will go on tomorrow as per schedule. All preparations have been completed," party spokesman Prakash Javadekar said.

Last week, the Union Home Ministry had reviewed the security of Advani and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi after intelligence inputs suggested that Pakistan's Inter Services Intelligence had tasked global terrorist Dawood Ibrahim with a mission to assassinate them.

The BJP has already demanded that government take adequate steps to ensure the security of Advani and Modi.
