In yet another blow to jailed RJD MP Mohammed Shahabuddin, a special court in Bihar's Siwan district on Friday sentenced him to one-year rigorous imprisonment in a case, in which he threatened to kill the officer in-charge of a police station.

According to police sources, the FIR in the case was filed in 2005.

The RJD MP was arrested in Delhi in November 2005 in connection with pending non-bailable warrants of arrest against his name.

The fourth-term MP from Siwan was later brought to Bihar on remand and lodged in the high-security Bhagalpur jail for six months before being shifted to Siwan jail for a speedy trial.

In 2007, the special court in Siwan jail awarded Shahabuddin the life sentence in a case pertaining to the kidnapping of a Communist Party of India-Marxist Leninist worker eight years ago.

Shahabuddin has over 30 cases, including those of murder, attempt to murder, possession of illegal arms of foreign make, and unaccounted foreign currency pending against him.
