The mystery surrounding former Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto's assassination may remain unresolved in spite of the assistance sought from Scotland Yard, according to well known forensic scientist Professor Chandra Sekharan.

"The quick burial of the dead body must have resulted in the loss of almost all important forensic evidence", he said in a press statement.

The investigative appraisal of a dead body necessitates external examinations even in countries where bodies have to be disposed without dissection; he said and pointed out that it appeared that even the basic ethics of forensic medical examination of Benazir's body has not been followed.

Nor had any scientific examination of the crime scene been done. Benazir was assassinated in Rawalpindi on December 27.
