The family of Rizwanur Rehman on Friday expressed doubts about the authenticity of media reports, which claimed that the Central Bureau of Investigation has concluded that the computer graphics teacher had committed suicide.

Rizwanur was found dead near the railway tracks in Dumdum in northern Kolkata, days after he married Priyanka, the daughter of influential industrialist Ashok Todi, against the wishes of her family.

''Firstly, the question is about the authencity of the report, which is being stated to be of the CBI, much ahead of its submission to the Calcutta High Court on January 8,'' said Rizwanur's elder brother Ruqbanur Rehman.

He said, ''We will seek to know how the report, purportedly by the CBI, has come to the media much ahead of its scheduled submission to the high court.''

He said the family believed that it was a 'pre-planned murder'.

Ruqbanur, however, expressed confidence in the CBI which, he said, had systematically conducted the probe into his brother's unnatural death on September 21.

Rizwanur's mother Keshwar Jahan said she would never accept that her son committed suicide. ''He was not the type of boy who can commit suicide.'' she said. Keshwar said that she would wait for the CBI report.

"It's all about evidence and I don't know what evidence the CBI has got to prove that it is a suicide or murder," said Ruqbanur.

Asked if Rizwanur had left a suicide note, he said "I haven't seen anything of the sort".

He said whatever be the outcome of the CBI investigation, the position of Rizwanur's body, when he saw him on the night of September 21, was "very much indicative of murder".
