A top Bush administration official has said the United States is continuously reviewing Islamabad's strategy to integrate the regions of Federally Administered Tribal Areas -- which includes North and South Waziristan -- into Pakistan.

"We continually review our strategy with respect to the Federally Administered Tribal Areas. So it is something that is occupying quite a bit of our time at the State Department, DOD, as well as the White House," State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said.

Refraining from commenting on the military operations in South Waziristan involving the Pakistani Frontier Corps, he said: "We know it is an important issue for Pakistan and its future."

Stressing upon the need for cooperation between the two nations, he said, the US will also refine its strategies as President Musharraf gives a second look to the plan to integrate the regions of Waziristan into Pakistan by rooting out militants from there.

"I think after some time, he has taken a look at that plan and decided that it needs a second look. And as they develop and refine their strategies, we are going to refine our strategies along with them. This needs to be a cooperative effort, but it is something that we are watching very closely," McCormack said.
