The Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday demanded that the Lok Sabha session be extended by one more day to debate the confidence motion to be moved by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

The demand was raised by BJP leader V K Malhotra at a meeting of floor leaders convened by Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee to discuss the modalities of going through the business of the House.

A total of 12 hours – spread over two days -- has been allotted for the discussion. Today,  the House would sit at least till 10 pm.

It was decided to meet again on Tuesday to take a call on the issue, Malhotra said after the meeting.

The Speaker sought complete cooperation of the members in the smooth running of the House.
