Seven dead in Bihar floods July 24, 2008 18:23 IST State disaster management department officials said seven people lost their lives due to floods in Muzaffarpur district, while around 65,000 people of 140 villages in Muzaffarpur, Supaul, Patna, Nalanda and Saharsa districts were affected by the deluge. Though most of the rivers were flowing below danger level, major rivers like Punpun, Burhi Gandak, Bagmati, Kosi and Mahananda are in spate. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said the overall situation was under control and he had ordered the authorities to carry out relief and rescue operations on priority basis.
