Concerned over the series of bomb blasts in Ahmedabad and Bengaluru, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has summoned Home Minister Shivraj Patil for a meeting on Sunday.

United Progressive Alliance Chairperson Sonia Gandhi is expected to be present in the meeting.

Earlier in the day, Patil chaired a high-level meeting to review the security situation following the serial bombings.

The meeting was attended by Cabinet Secretary K M Chandrasekar, Union Home Secretary Madhukar Gupta, Director Intelligence Bureau P C Haldar, Delhi Police Chief Y S Dadwal and senior officers of the Home Ministry and security agencies.

The review meeting is a second of its kind since last week when the Home Ministry had gone into the security scenario in the country and issued advisories to various states asking them to be on high alert.

Terror struck Ahmedabad on Saturday evening when 16 coordinated serial blasts ripped through the city killing 38 people, a day after multiple explosions rocked Bengaluru. A string of nine synchronised low intensity bomb blasts rocked Bengaluru on Friday, leaving two killed and injuring 12 others.
