The lone Lok Sabha Member from Nagaland W Wangyuh Konyak has been expelled from the Nagaland People's Front for six years for defying the party's directive.

NPF president Shurhozelie, in an official order issued on Wednesday, said the expulsion was in accordance with the working committee's unanimous decision, within the purview of the party's constitution.

Konyak voted in favour of the United Progressive Alliance during the trust vote in Parliament on July 22, defying the NPF party directive to vote against the motion on nuclear deal.

The NPF is the major partner of the ruling Democratic Alliance of Nagaland, which includes the Bharatiya Janata Party, the Nationalist Congress Party and the Independents.

Meanwhile, the state unit of the BJP, standing its ground on the allegations of bribery and corruption made against Konyak, challenged the Congress to take the issue to the court.

The party also challenged the Nagaland Congress to write to the Lok Sabha Speaker for probing into the matter by a parliamentary committee, so that the guilty was brought to book and matters were put to rest.
