The body of a 28-year-old woman software engineer, who had gone missing from Mumbai, has been found on Goa's Candolim beach, more than two and half months after her disappearance.

The nude and decomposed body of Meghana Subhedar was found on the beach, ten km from Panaji, on Thursday evening. Meghana had flown from Bangalore to Mumbai on April 10 to take another flight to her hometown Korba in Chhattisgarh, police sources said.

However, according to a complaint filed with Mumbai police, she did not reach home. Her father Mohan Subhedar arrived in Goa on Friday and identified the body, police sources said.

Goa police are yet to make a formal statement on the matter although sources said the post-mortem conducted on her body suggested foul play. "We will make a formal statement later in the day," inspector of Calangute police station said.

Police said Meghana might have died four days ago. A week ago, she had withdrawn money from State Bank of India's Auomated Teller Machine at Margao in south Goa. Meghana's parents said she was carrying two credit cards.
