Should government schools teach in English?

March 25, 2008

Rahul Gandhi [Images] feels English should be made the medium of instruction in government schools, as it would provide Dalit and tribal students better opportunities.

The Congress general secretary, who kicked off his five-day tour of Karnataka on Tuesday, said students from poor families should be provided English medium education as it would help their future.

He also stressed upon the need for elevation and expansion of the quantum and quality of education being provided in government schools.
