Bihar: 6 Naxals killed in encounter

Six activists of outlawed Communist Party of India-Maoists were killed and two policemen were injured in an encounter at Labani Marai village in Nawada district on Wednesday.

Inspector General of Police (Operation) S K Bhardwaj told PTI that the encounter between the police and the naxalites lasted for over an hour in which over 200 rounds were fired from both the sides in which six naxalites and two policemen, including an assistant sub-inspector and a CRPF constable, were injured.

Bhardwaj said the police recovered three rifles, one carbine earlier looted by the naxalites from the police, huge quantity of can bombs and 300 cartridges after the encounter.

He said the Superintendent of Police Binod Kumar has rushed to encounter site with reinforcements and a combing operation launched to nab other naxalites, who escaped under the cover of darkness into the nearby forest.
