Former Congress leader P Shivshankar supports Alva

Former union minister and Congress leader P Shivshankar on Tuesday endorsed the statements of All India Congress Committee General Secretary Margaret Alva and senior leader Yogendra Makwana, who had claimed that tickets are up for sale in the Congress.

Shivshankar arrived at the residence of Alva to extend his support and said that after he resigned from the Congress in 2004, he wrote a letter to Congress president Sonia Gandhi, apprising her about the sale of party tickets in Andhra Pradesh.

The Dalit leader, who left the Congress four years ago, said, "I quit the Congress because it is no longer the same Congress in which I started my political career."

Shivshankar said that Alva's allegations should be probed so that the truth comes out as there is no transparency in the party.
