Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, one of the prime accused in the 2008 Malegaon blast case, on Tuesday approached the special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act court seeking home food alleging that she is being served non-vegetarian food in the prison.
Sadhvi on Tuesday in the application filed before special MCOCA Judge Y D Shinde has alleged that she was served with non-vegetarian food along with her boiled vegetables on various occasions.
The application further alleges that Sadhvi has found "worms" in her food and that such meals are "not fit for human consumption".
Sadhvi's lawyer Navin Chomal has also sent a legal notice to the Byculla women's jail authorities.
According to the notice, Sadhvi found pieces of boiled egg in her lunch on Sunday which made her vomit. "Consequently she has been under tremendous mental suffering and even developed a fear of food served in jail," the notice said.
Chomal argued that Sadhvi had developed digestive problem and has been advised to stay on medical diet.
Sadhvi is presently in judicial custody and the Anti Terrorism Squad has already filed a chargesheet against her and ten others in connection with the September 29, 2008 Malegaon blast case that left six people dead.
Undertrial prisoners are allowed to get food from home provided the court grants permission.
