Fourth seed and 548th-ranked Megha Vakharia entered the quarter-finals in the Rockingham Heritage Bank ITF tournament at in Harrisonburg, the United States, beating Courtney Vernon of the US 6-4, 6-2 on Friday.

The 18-year-old Indian will take on eighth seed Mayumi Yamamoto of Japan

In the first round, Vakharia beat Nicole Shabaz of the US 6-4, 6-4.

In the doubles event, the Indo-Japanese pair of Vakharia/Maki Arai, seeded 3, entered the quarter-finals. They beat the US-Japanese pair of Alina Elizabeth/Tomoyo Takagishi 6-3, 6-2 in the first round.
