January 07, 2003 21:02 IST

National Football League outfit Tollygunge Agragami of Kolkata have roped in courier company DTDC as their new sponsor.

Announcing the tie-up in Kolkata, DTDC chief Subhasish Chakraborty said his company would provide adequate funds for the proper management of the Agragami team, though the two parties are yet to pen a financial contract.

DTDC is also considering providing employment to talented players of the club, Chakraborty added.

"In Bangalore, we are playing a big role in developing cricket. Similarly, we want to improve the standard of soccer in Bengal by joining hands with Tollygunge," he said.

Tollygunge secretary Mantu Ghosh said in all probability DTDC would become his club's title sponsor in the ongoing NFL.

A word of assurance came from IFA joint secretary Ranjit Gupta, who said getting the green signal from the AIFF would not be a problem.

Agragami sources said DTDC has already donated a sum of Rs 500,000 to the team.
