Players have it easy

Qualifier Ragini Vimal of India, unseeded Po-Kuen Lam of Hong Kong and Natalia Neri of Great Britain advanced to second round in the Indian Oil Servo ITF women's tennis tournament in Bangalore on Monday.

While Ragini managed to overcome the challenge of compatriot Yamini Thukkaiandi 6-3, 7-6 (7/0), Po-Kuen ranked 732, easily disposed off Sandri Gangothri 6-3, 6-2.

Natalia outplayed wild card Iciri Rai 6-3, 6-1.

The other unseeded players who sailed into the next round include, Nandini Perumal, who beat Krushmi Chheda 6-3, 6-3, Ankita Bhambri defeated Asha Nandakumar 6-2, 6-0; Samrita Sekar beat Varsha Shivashankar 6-2, 6-0 and Shruthi Dhawan defeated Preeti Rao 6-1, 6-1.

In the doubles, top seeded Rushmi Chakravarthi, pairing with Jayaram Sai Jayalakshmi, easily defeated Sheethal Goutham and Po-Kuen (Hong Kong) 6-1, 6-1.

In the other doubles matches, Sandhya Nagaraj and Madhura Ranganathan of India quelled the challange of Natalia (GBR) and Samrita Shekar 6-3, 0-6, 6-4 and the Indian duo of Ankita Bhambri and Isha Lakhani defeated compatriots Anupama and Chirshathi Rajor 6-2, 6-4.
