Alvito D'Cunha named East Bengal skipper

July 25, 2006 22:42 IST

Alvito D'Cunha was on Tuesday named East Bengal captain for the forthcoming season. His name as skipper was approved at a meeting of the club's executive committee on Tuesday.

D'Cunha has been donning the club's red and yellow jersey since the last four years.

East Bengal's footballers are now gearing up for the upcoming battles at a residential camp in Barasat, 30 kilometres from Kolkata, under their new Brazilian coach, Carlos Roberto Da Pereira.

They will return to the city on July 31, before kicking-off their season with a Kolkata premier division league outing on August 2.
