Dempo win Durand Cup November 27, 2006 17:46 IST Goa's Dempo Sports Club won the 119th Osian Durand Cup football tournament, beating JCT, Phagwara, 1-0 in the final in Delhi on Monday. Nigerian striker Ranti Martins scored the only goal of the match in the 75th minute to earn the Goa team their maiden triumph in the world's third oldest football tournament. The teams had played out a 1-1 draw in the quarter-final league which ensured them berths in the semi-finals and saw the premature exit of East Bengal and defending champions Army XI.
