Rohan Bopanna made an early exit after a first round loss at the USD 50,000 ATP Challenger tennis event in Bronx, USA.

The 27-year-old Indian, returning to the courts after a week-long break, went down fighting 7-6 (1), 7-6 (3) to Czech Republic's seventh seed Jan Hernych on Monday.

Bopanna is paired with Pakistan's Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi in the doubles.

The duo, who made a hat-trick of doubles titles a week ago in Europe, were to play their first round match later.
