Humpy held again, but keeps joint lead

July 14, 2007 16:43 IST

Koneru Humpy was held to a third successive draw, this time by French International Master Tigran Gharamian, but continues to be in joint lead after the seventh round of the Kaupthing Open International Chess Tournament in Luxembourg.

The Indian Grandmaster will now take on German International Master Sebast Siebrecht in the penultimate round of the nine-round tournament.

Humpy remains in joint lead with six points but it has become crowded at the top with five others also sharing the number one spot with the Indian.

The joint-leaders being Hungarian International Master Viktor Erdos, Czech Grandmaster Petr Velicka, French Tigran Gharamian, German Siebrecht and Israeli GM Hannes Stefansson.
