Nimbus bags EPL internet rights

Nimbus [Get Quote] Sport International Pvt. Ltd on Tuesday announced that Joost, a global online television platform had acquired the on-demand internet clip rights for the Barclays Premier League in the Indian subcontinent.

Joost's registered subscribers will be able to view highlights of all Barclays Premier League matches after each fixture round as part of a dedicated advertising-funded Barclays Premier League channel.

Nimbus Sport has been awarded the mobile and internet rights for the next three years, covering the 1140 Barclays Premier League matches that will be played until the end of the 2009-10 season. The 2007-08 Barclays Premier League season kicked off 11th August and will showcase 380 matches until May 2008. Nimbus Sport is marketing these rights in conjunction with PA Sport EV -- a subsidiary of PA Sport.

The rights awarded to Nimbus Sport span countries across the globe -- including China, Japan [Images], Korea, Hong Kong, Thailand, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka [Images], and other countries in Asia; UAE, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Egypt, as well as countries in the Middle East and North Africa; Italy [Images], Portugal, Spain, Greece, and Belgium in Europe; and reaching as far as Brazil [Images], Australia and New Zealand [Images].
