Lampard red card overturned

February 03, 2009 21:09 IST

Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard [Images] has escaped a three-game ban after his red card against Liverpool was overturned.

"At an independent Regulatory Commission hearing today, a claim for wrongful dismissal from Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard was upheld," the FA said on its website.

Lampard was shown a red card for a tackle on Xabi Alonso [Images] after an hour of their 2-0 Pemier League defeat by Liverpool on Sunday, although it appeared to have been a fair challenge.
