Kaniha, the next big thing in Malayalam cinema

With two of the year's most high profile projects in her kitty, Kaniha could well be the next big thing in Malayalam.

She is playing Kaitheri Makkam in the MT Vasudevan Nair-Hariharan saga Pazhassi Raja, which has Mammootty in the title role, slated for release later this year.

Her immediate release however will be Bhagyadevatha, directed by Sathyan Anthikkad with Jayaram as the hero, the biggest summer release in Malayalam.

The BITS Pilani graduate, who made her entry into films in the Mani Ratnam production Five Star, has been noted in films like Autograph, Aethiree and Varalaru. She has shifted to the US after her marriage, but continues acting in films.

In an exclusive interview to Meghna George on location [of Bhagyadevatha] in Kuttanadan village, Kaniha talks about her films and more. Excerpts:

Listen to: Tasveer 8 x 10
