Though both Preeti and Rakhi said it was Rakhi who did not allow her to go to the US in search of a better life, those close to the mother-daughter duo have a different tale to tell.
"Rakhi had some highly-placed clients who had eyed Preeti for long. As soon as she grew up, they pressured Rakhi into making Preeti join the same trade," a maid, who used to work at Preeti's place once, told us.
"In fact, Preeti now leads a sex chain and she was arrested a few years back, sent to a juvenile home. She was later handed to her mother," she added. "The incident created a rift between the mother and the daughter and the two hardly talk or meet these days. She is still a minor but she won't admit that. Ask her age and she would lie.
"This is a world of sex, lies and deception. Some of her clients are political goons, who don't want her to leave this profession. She knows too many secrets," said the old woman. "She sacked me because she did not want anyone who knew the truth around."
