Corn Products Company, a 74 per cent subsidiary of BestFoods, today announced its decision to rename the company as International BestFoods Limited.

This follows the renaming of parent company CPC International Inc as BestFoods in January 1998 after the spin-off of its corn refining operations. The name BestFoods communicates to consumers the company's focus on being a 100 per cent branded foods company marketing well-known, high quality food brands.

Based in New Jersey, BestFoods has an annual turnover of $ 8.4 billion and ranks among the largest US food companies. It has operations in more than 60 countries of North America, Europe, Latin America, Asia, the Middle East and Africa and its products are sold in about 110 countries.

Other developments at CPI India include the proposed acquisition of Dcw's tangible and intangible assets of the salt business and the Captain Cook trademark. CPI India has also acquired the trademark Tarla Dalal along with its associated goodwill, technical knowhow from Tarla Dalal Foods. Tarla Dalal is one of India's best known cookbook writers.
