Ratan Tata rules out reviving airline project

Tata group chairman Ratan Tata today ruled out reviving the much-publicised Tata domestic airline project.

Talking to the media at the inaugural function of Tata Cellular's 'costal corridor' between Guntur and Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, he said there was no question of resurrecting the airline project.

The civil aviation ministry had not shown any interest in clearing it, he felt.

The decision to pull out of the project was not an ultimatum but just a withdrawal, he said adding that no corporation could wait for three years for clearance.

Tata, however, said his group would be interested in promoting a domestic airline "in the future".

He said the Tatas were not involved in the proposed international airport project in Hyderabad. 'I came to know about it only this morning from Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu,' he added.
