World value of rupee

Citibank has released the weekly statement on the world value of rupee. As on September 11, 1998, the Indian rupee stood at Rs 71.23 against the United Kingdom's pound.

The rupee value against some important currencies is as follows: Canadian dollar (Rs 28.05), Germany's deutsche-mark (Rs 25.05), Dutch guilder (Rs 22.21), French franc (Rs 7.47), Swedish kroner (Rs 5.38), Italian lira (100 units -- Rs 2.54), Japanese yen (100 units -- Rs 3.38), Belgian franc (100 units -- Rs 121.45), Australian dollar (Rs 25.43), Hong Kong dollar (Rs 5.48), Singapore dollar (Rs 24.61), Danish kroner (Rs 6.57), Finnish markka (Rs 8.23), Swiss franc (Rs 30.45) and Norwegian krone (Rs 5.63).
