Centre decides to give counter-guarantee for Cogentrix project

The central government has decided to give a counter-guarantee for the controversial 1000-megawatt Mangalore Power Project of the United States-based Cogentrix Corp in the south Indian state of Karnataka.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the Union Cabinet today which lasted about 90 minutes.
