Market@21 March: Day's report

Sensex gains 27 points at 5129. Nifty down 3 points at 1559.

Barring a few, most stocks remained depressed on Tuesday. Software showed mixed trend. Infosys hit the upper circuit and remained there throughout the day. DSQ Software, SSI, HCL Techno, HCL Infosys, and Polaris remained strong. Satyam Computer and PentaMedia Graphics, however, remained weak throughout the day.

Among the pivotals, ITC and MTNL dipped sharply, whereas SBI, L&T, and Reliance witnessed good buying. Meanwhile, the software sector remained firm.

Satyam Computer, HFCL, Global Tel, DSQ Software, and Zee Tele topped the volume chart on the BSE accounting for more than 60 per cent of the total volumes.
