Market@24 March: BSE report

Sensex up 24 points at 5139, Nifty up 8 points at 1561.

Market opened weak but showed a sharp recovery in the end. Early close did not have any major impact. Software sector showed mixed trend with major counters showing strong buying. Infosys, Wipro, Global Tele, and Himachal Futuristic remained in good demand.

At the same time, stocks like DSQ, and SSI remained at the downward circuit throughout the day. SSI remained extremely volatile. Cyclicals remained dull, whereas pharma showed marginal recovery.

Satyam Computers, Himachal Futuristic, Zee Tele, Global Tele, and Infosys topped the volume chart accounting for 60 per cent of the total trading volume on the BSE.

Computech, Guj Ambuja, DSQ Software, United Phosphrous, Cybermate, Datapro, VSNL, Lee & Nee Soft, Hinduja Finance, Advent Computers, LCC Info, Vans Info, Ram Info, Ojas Techno, Peerless Shipping, Vakrangee, Agro Dutch, Anco Communication, Bits, IEC Soft, Epic Enzymes and Alpic Finance.

Stocks up over 5 per cent
Zee Tele, Bausch & Lomb, Su-Raj Diamond, Classic Bio, Salora International, Innovations, Citicorp, Subros, Hikal Chemicals, Prime Plastic, BFL Soft and HEG.

Stocks down over 5 per cent
