Market@May 16: Day's report

Markets close marginally higher. There wasn't much movement in the market as players adopt a wait-and-watch attitude on the eve of the Fed meeting which is expected to increase interest by 50 basis points. Morgan Stanley Capital International is also likely to announce the lowering of its India weightage.

BSE Sensex closed 18 points higher at 4230 points while NSE closed nine points higher at 1308 points.

ITC, Hindustan Lever, Satyam Computer and Zee closed strong.

  • Close: 1308.55

Gainers: Between 7.9 to 12 per cent
Dr. Reddy's, SmithKline Pharma, Alok Textile, KLG Systel, Hikal Chemical, Bajaj Tempo.

Gainers: Between 5 to 7.9 per cent
ITC, Essel, Century, Crisil, Omega Interactive.

Losers: Between 5 to 7.9 per cent
CMC, Leading Edge, Mico, Madura Coats, Cinerad Communication, Chicago Pneumatic, Jaiprakash Industries.

Losers: Between 8 to 12 per cent
Hinduja Finance, Elder Healthcare, Wimplast.
